Library
Our well resourced, inviting school library allows all of our children at Castletown to have the freedom to explore reading through a wide range of high quality texts, instilling a deep love and excitement about reading. Our fantastic team of school librarians work hard to make the library a dynamic, engaging and interactive resource for everyone to enjoy by regularly running competitions, producing displays that encourage children to widen their reading choices and creating themed book displays.
Our Library books are linked to the Accelerated Reader scheme. This allows children some independence and ownership of their reading choices by giving them a range of levels to select from whilst being carefully monitored and guided by their teachers to keep each child's reading progress on track.
Children read and 'quiz' on what they have read both in school and at home and are set personalised targets each term. Parents can also monitor their child's reading development through the Accelerated Reader home login.
Our Whole school 'Reading Wall of Fame' allows every single child in our school to celebrate their reading engagement and success as the year progresses, helping to build a positive culture where the joy of reading touches every corner of our school.
Outdoor Library
The outdoor library is now up and running! At playtime, help yourself to a book from one of our fabulous outdoor library boxes in the KS1 and KS2 yards.

You asked and we have delivered...
Look out for lots of new books in the school library after Spring half term, including the graphic novels that you have all been requesting!!
Reading Ambassadors
Here are our Reading Ambassadors listening to and helping some of our younger readers.
Community Library
Remember...we don't just encourage children to read - we also like our parents and carers to join in too!
Our popular 'Community Library' is located within the main entrance foyer. Please take a look if you haven't already. Take a book home that you like and feel free to drop off any that you have and think other adults within our school community would like to read.
Our Year 6 librarians have been busy keeping it tidy.
Thank you for all of the amazing donations!
