Online Safety

22 April 2020 (by admin)

During the current lock down period, we're probably spending more time than normal on our phones, tablets or computers. So, this is an important time for both adults and children to stay safe and behave responsibly online.

We're sure the vast majority of pupils are following the rules and guidelines about staying safe. Unfortunately, we are aware of some children who are not acting responsibly. Mrs Lumsdon has seen and been informed about hurtful messages some pupils are sending to other children. Often, pupils are using platforms such as Snapchat to do this.

As a result, can we ask that parents monitor their child's activities when online or using mobile phones. Also, it is worth reminding everyone that there are age restrictions on Social Media and messaging platforms. For example, children must be a minimum of 13 to use Snapchat and 16 to register and use WhatsApp.

For advice about staying safe when you're on a phone, tablet or computer, visit the Thinkuknow webite (link below).
